Technology can play an important role in supporting carers and care providers; the increased use of smart phones and tablet devices present opportunities for new and exciting ways to help people manage their own health and care, to improve connections between older people and their carers, reduce loneliness and isolation and help people manage and co-ordinate healthcare and daily tasks.

With an estimated nine million older people in the UK expected to need care from family and friends by 2024, we need to make sure that everyone involved in care provision - from commissioners and care providers through to front line staff - have the know-how to get the best from technology to meet the needs of carers in the years ahead.
